The Drum Also Dances
Originally conceived in June 2025, Jazz Drummer Freddie Krone and I embarked on an interdisciplinary exploration of body and instrument. From this research, Krone and I began to translate the work into a live performance setting. The work, 30 minutes in duration, continues to explore this relationship, whilst also assessing notions of effort, output and rest. The rhythm of the dancer and the drummer both dictate these conditions; one may resist the other, creating tension and space to reflect on whether we must adhere to conditions set by others.
The work has been performed at the Hundred Years Gallery in Hoxton and The Horse Hospital in Bloomsbury.
